Hayden of London, a music seller and publisher active during the 19th century. The instrument exemplifies the craftsmanship characteristic of London flute makers from this period, with expertly executed construction throughout.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span>The flute features small tone holes and responds beautifully in the hands. The boxwood body is notably light, contributing to a responsive and lively playing feel. The ivory ferrules and fittings add visual appeal and are typical of quality flutes from this era. The instrument has a pinned crack on the underside of the headjoint and a sealed hairline crack in the barrel which has been reinforced with a carbon fiber band under the ivory ring.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span>This is a fine example of mid-19th century London flute making, suitable for players interested in exploring the repertoire and sound characteristics of antique instruments from this tradition.</span><br><br><span>Plays nicely at A440 with the headjoint pushed in all the way.
